Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said that Gran Turismo 7 will release "in 2015 or 2016".

    Gran Turismo 6
Yamauchi told GamesTM that "PS3 was much, much more difficult" to develop for than PS4.

"The high quality of data that we have being rendered on the PS4 I think is going to make an incredible difference.

"For GT7, myself and my staff have a clear vision: to do everything we couldn't do in GT6," Yamauchi added. "We want to make it very Gran Turismo. By that I mean it's going to be a game that matches the very era that we live in, in 2015 or 2016."

The new window extends previous projections from Yamauchi, who said in September 2013 that the PS4 racer would arrive in "about a year or two". Gran Turismo fans know to take prospective release dates with a grain of salt, as the series has seen some lengthy delays over its 17-year history.

Yamauchi noted in June 2014 that the studio had no plans to release a Prologue version of Gran Turismo 7, as it did for Gran Turismo 4 and 5.

He also said the game will likely retain its library of less-detailed "standard" car models, though some may be made more-detailed into "premium" cars.
