Lionhead is still taking applications for the Fable Legends closed beta, which kicks off this Thursday, October 16 on Xbox One. On that day the first wave of invites will be sent out, with further rounds set to be distributed as testing progresses. Lionhead says: "We're inviting fans to help test the game as early in the development process as possible; not only do we want your help with identifying bugs, glitches and crashes, we also want to hear your ideas, feedback and suggestions. "Ultimately we hope to have a significant portion of our registrants in game before we leave closed beta." Revealed in August 2013 during Microsoft's Gamescom showcase event, Fable Legends is set hundreds of years before the events of the original Fable. The online-centric game features drop-in, drop-out co-op gameplay for up to four players, who take on hero roles drawn from classic RPG archetypes. Meanwhile, a fifth player assumes the role of the villain, taking control of creatures, traps and hazards in a bid to hinder the other players' progress. Although Fable Legends features a strong online component, Lionhead has said it can also be played offline in single-player, with AI taking over any open character slots, whether hero or villain. The studio has described the launch version of Fable Legends as "season one" of the game, with plans to evolve the title over five to ten years. Legends will also include "mini-games, pub games, and similar activities", some of which may use Kinect motion controls. Source: CVG
