Batman: Arkham Knight Ending Teased

Batman: Arkham Knight is months away from being released on Xbox One, and there are already hints of sorts lurking in the logo about the ending.

"The flaming Batman logo is something we thought about for a long time," says Dax Ginn, brand marketing producer at Rocksteady during an interview with LockedOnGames when asked about the design choice behind the game's motif.

"Here's the thinking: so, Batman: Arkham Asylum, when you think about the image on the front of the box, it's very blue, very cool, very calm. Batman: Arkham City was black and white, purely neutral. So we've got this spectrum that we've built up between the three games where Arkham Knight is all about heat. It's all about this epic, conclusive, explosive end to the trilogy. So, the colour spectrum from blue through to neutral through to red hot, that was really the driving philosophy behind the design of the logo. There's also the carbon fibre to kinda connect to the Batmobile."

All about heat, you say? As Aofie points out, there is that sinister message from Azrael in Arkham City, which hints at how the loose story threads will be tied up when he says "events will occur that you cannot stop, from the ashes of Arkham the fires will rage and Gotham will burn, and you, you will burn too."

Ginn also says earlier in the interview that "there are always things that we drop into our games to give gamers a hint about where we're going next."

"Looking at the theories online I think a few people have picked up on a few little Easter Eggs that we've dropped... there are a few things we've set up to let people know we're closing the book on this game."

"We had a very clear idea from the end of Arkham City on how we wanted the trilogy to wrap up," continues Ginn. "We knew the story we wanted to tell, the narrative path we were on for Batman Arkham Knight. We also developed an internal scripting team, so we brought in three new scriptwriters to collaborate with Sefton Hill, the game director to fill out that story. Having an internal scripting team means we can change our minds, change the script and dialogue based on new developments, so working iteratively allows us to make a much better game."
