is there a permanant rrod fix. my cousins xbox keeps doing it. sometimes it works. it was given to him. it was flashed to. i think it had thermo paste on it before also. not sure. its an old xbox. EDIT: code is 4142 or some say the four rings is 0 so it would be 0102
Have u tried the xclamp fix on it,0102 is over heating,make sure u use decent thermal paste,like arctic silver, on it.
i think that was already done when given to him. it might be the paste thing. i took the box apart but stuck at the remove power part (the board under the part that turns the xbox on). i need to remove the 3 screws but need a Torx T8 Screwdriver. i live in the US so i hope i can find a Torx T8 Screwdriver & arctic silver thermal paste in a store by me
Yeah as sensi said, radio shack has those items, I got a two pack of artic silver at RS, it was the smallest size they had, and for the torx set, you might be better off going to a auto parts store, as they might sell just a T8!
ok thx guys. radio shack had both paste & torx. what now? remember im sure this was done already but maybe wrong paste. plus the xbox does work at times. is there a vid to watch or what? how much paste? how long after I put it on can I turn the box on? lots of questions as I never did this before
thx for the vid but I thought I had to do the paste to those 4 pads on bottom of the motherboard. guess not. lol those pads were practically falling off
