Buddy of mine has a xbox slim MFR is: 12-30-10 (December 30th 2010). so it's getting close to 3 yrs old. I'm tryin to figure out what drive it prolly is without me having to open it up since he live 40+ miles away. I have the CK3 and probe so hopefully I can just use that without having to buy any new hardware or having to solder anything or cut any pcb boards/traces. Thanks for any inputs, Jbrizzel-
its gonna be the liteon 16d4s drive itll either have the 0x3 chipset wcich willneed a simple trace cut sputnik probe and a dab of solder or you will have the winbond 0x5 chipset which will need marking correctly on the chipset i reccomend a template to ensure correct marking then unlocking by using a 1mm drill bit .
Thanks 4 the fast reply, so there is no new hardware that I can buy that will dump the firmware off it without having to solder/cutting?
firstly get it open and see what chip it is 0x3 you will need sputnik / scalpel or another sharp instrument / soldering iron / usb pro v1 or v2 0x5 you will need template 1mm drill bit usb pro v1 /v2 pm me if you need any help m8 .
From what I read, replacement pcb would be the easiest. Here is a link of what I am talking about. http://www.redboxmods.com/products/MTX-Freedom-LITE-Replacement-PCB-LiteOn-DG16D4S.html that's the best one as they got external cable for updating, no need to open up console! So basically, reading the f/w is simple from a slim, it's the flashing that has been patched, With this replacement PCB, all you do is plug it up, flash your dumped f/w back, done!
yeah but to read the key youre gonna need usb pro . and then the cost of a replacement pcb is far more than any of the other tools to do yourself but then again if taking the far easier more expensive option is youre way forward then do what you think is best .
£34.90 for a replacement pcb £ 40. for usb pro = £ 79.00 quite expensive you might aswell pay a pro to do it without the new board oh yeah and shipping ..
Yeah, you got a point. I will of course find way better deals then that. I'll wait till they go on sale.
