Microsoft has made its first Kinect sales-related announcement today; the device has shifted 1 million units in 10 days worldwide. The company is on track to sell 5 million by the end of the year it says, pointing out that the madness that is this week’s Black Friday should give the peripheral a nice push. And then there’s Christmas, of course. “This is a great start to the holiday season,” Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, says in the announcement, “and we will continue to work with our retailer partners to keep pace with high demand and deliver against our plan to sell more than five million Kinect sensors worldwide by the end of this year.” The device became available in NA on November 4th and EU last Wednesday.
