With the Xbox 360 dashboard update apparently due for the end of this month, it could transpire that Microsoft is considering eschewing its Microsoft Points system, if the Windows 8 Xbox Video Store is any sort of an indication of things to come. According to The Verge, purchases using actual money are available on prototype versions of the Windows 8 Xbox Video Store, while previous betas have stuck with the old MS Points system. With Microsoft always looking to keep its platforms unified under the 'Xbox' brand, it could be that Microsoft is planning to shift to using real money on Xbox 360. Windows 8 launches on 26th October, meaning that the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update could also be arriving sometime around that date. Will the Microsoft Points system be ditched? This could be good, knowing how much something is worth. Then again, if it goes to direct money, theres no way you can save on buying things like cheap msp
so basically a 1600msp card is $20, so us aussies get ripped big time, they charge $30-35 for them over here
i have the windows 8 enterprise that was leaked like a month ago and the xbl system is just seeing wich of your friends are online and see their avatars not even sending msgs and there is one new thing that if you have your xbox networked to your pc while playing a media file like a movie or music there is this new button at the player ( the windwos default player ) that you could switch to your xbox 360 and see the movie from your xbox 360 via direct streaming from your pc and its a cool thing
This was announce early February that they will be stopping the ms points system due to currency in different parts of the world not being stable and that people in the us were paying more than mst of Europe etc. I'm sure January-February was the date they said and anyone who has points eft on the account would have points transferred into money at the current points per $ or £ rate.
hmm ... how bout's XBLA? You can get GOD/DLC in money or MS points, but XBLA was always in MS points...
Lol I'm keeping them for when Blops 2 drops their packs See I wouldnt mind if they did change it like this as it would be so much easier paying the right amount of money for map packs, DLC e.c.t instead of how we currently often have to buy more points than we actually need to get the contents.
Yea ccaveman , I wanted the borderlands season pass and was 40 points short so had to purchase 400 points just for 40 points .
This is why I don't see them doing away with the points system. It makes them so much money. Instead of spending .50, you spent 5.00. That's 4.50 more because of the way the points system works. s1m0n, you said that it was announced; where did you see this? Can we get a link please? I would love to read up on some of this.
dam I got 5 accounts with 4k points on them guess have to go on a shopping spree. But I buy them 4 for $20 with 4k msp vs $20 for 1600msp
