Games that you shouldnt update on kinect dash

A new beta version [build 12606] of the Fall 2010 [alias 'Kinect'] dashboard has been leaked on the internet a few days ago and it seems like Microsoft added new protections to it. Several users seems to report problems booting certain games from recordable media on 360s with a modified DVD FW.
One of the titles affected seems to be Fable III. The game boots fine from any media on the current dashboard (9199) on a 360 with modified FW, but fails to boot from recordable media on the leaked/12606 beta dashboard; “This disc is unreadable” – while the retail disc will work just fine according to #FW@EFnet.

Right now it’s unclear which games, DVD models and/or modified FWs are exactly affected.

Ok so im starting a list here for people with flashed consoles on the new kinect dash of games that you shouldnt update!

* Fifa 11

just a heads up lads am using the kinnet dash and flashed drive black ops update in the game has done something to my drive now it will only play black ops no more games work if u have old dash then ur fine just thought i would let u all no

ps i no its something to do with the game as evry other game worked fine before this update in the game

If you have a samsung drive your ok because it doesnt have the ap2.5 checks! But for everyone else dont update any new titles on a flashed drive until the release of LT+

first time ive updated m8 have not played the other games u listed checkin round peeps r sayin something to do with ssv1 but i have no clue what it is hopefully splats may be able to shed some light on this 1

 

Yeah its the new security sectors.
SSv`s are commonly known as security sectors, and the 1,2, & 3 are just version numbers. The ap.2.5 you have been reading about stands for anti piracy , ansd the 2.5 is a version number!

The developers in the scene (i.e. c4eva, Team Jungle, etc.) have been aware of AP2.5 for some time now, at least one and a half years. They've been working on a new spec for security sectors, SSv3. SS v3 patches haven't been put into use yet because in the five years the since 360 has been out AP2.5 hasn't been used once.

Basically now we need to wait for a new firmware release.

 

@ Wayne can you please tell me your drive type and firmware revision that you got crippled on with Black ops update.

 

is Hasbro Family Game Night 3 one of the these games also? my family wants it but im not sure if it has an update on it. i have a banned console but not sure if the game has some kind of update on it that will mess everything up

There's something wrong with this dashboard, alright. Bought my Fable 3 LCE today, loaded up the disc in the console (while it was booting), and the disc was shown as DVD-Video. Had to eject and close in order to play. My DVD drive is not flashed and never was (not on this console anyways ).

Anyhow i find it strange that a SSV3 game like Fable 3 isnt booting on a legit console on Kinect dash!
You drive boots other games ok ?

 

To be honest, I haven't checked any others. Besides Fable III would be one of the newest games I have. But that happened only once now. When I leave my disc in the console now it recognizes the game.

 

Maybe a bug with the ap2.5 checks maybe. Even so its definantly a bug!
Theres been a few bugs and glitchs with this latest dash release , maybe MS tripping over themselves for November release for a ban wave just in time for xmas ?

:blind: firmware lt 3.0 fixes this. Flash to current firmware and you should be ok.
