What's the best way to burn XDG3 for someone without a iHAS burner, the guy never plays online so it's pointless me getting a iHAS burner for someone who doesn't play online.

    Thanks.

It can depend on his setup, old hitachi drives do not support truncated XGD3. but otherwise an
extra window will open when burning with imgburn, choose the option to "Write to end of disc (Truncate)" and hit OK. Wait for the disc to burn and verify. Job done.

As only around 97% of an XGD3 ISO will fit on the disc if you're not using a Burner Max burner, this is not the optimal method for burning XGD3 games. Certain games (Forza 4, for example) feature new checks that will fail if you burn the game using this method, so it's recommended to get a Burner Max-compatible drive.

    Hope this helps.

Will it play truncated? As I said online doesn't matter he doesn't use it.

It depends which drive he has in his xbox. chances are he has one that DOES support truncated discs as they are more common, but old hitachis dont support this feature (they require full iHas burns to play).

However as truncating the burn will only burn about 97% of the game to the disc and some games EVEN OFFLINE will fail checks and not work. e.g Forza 4 is known to have issues when burnt without an iHas.

Basically the best way for your situation is to truncate the burn, but don't think that because its an offline xbox that the games will always work as your not managing to burn all of the data to the disc with this method. :)

But according to C4eva, all XDG3 have CIV checks, in this case wouldn't every XDG3 fail?

I'll just burn it and try it.

Its not the burning truncated it is the checks that get done on the discs by the xbox and throws out "unautharised disc" remember forza 4 saga anything from 2 mins to 20 mins you can play without the error.
The hitachi drives are only good for ap 2.5 checks but that aint too much of an issue as ap2.5 has been defeted and was only handy when reburns were needed per dash update and then bypassing title updates.
