Install the Alby browser extension from getalby.com or your browser's official store. This single action places a powerful Bitcoin and Lightning wallet directly in your toolbar, ready to interact with the web. Once added, Alby will prompt you to create a new wallet or restore an existing one–choose "Create a new wallet" and write down your 12-word recovery phrase on paper, storing it securely offline.
Paper backup is still the least glamorous but most useful part of the setup. Browser extensions come and go, that phrase is the bit that actually matters.
