D-Dog is the wild dog companion/buddy in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He is a useful buddy that can help you out during missions, and is just darn cute.
In the southernmost part of Afghanistan map youâ€™ll find D-Dog near a tree, just north of Spugmay Keep. If you miss him, Ocelot will contact you and tell you about a puppy. Use the Fulton device on him, and send him to Mother Base.
This was done during Mission 3 "A Hero's Way". But he can also be found at start of Mission 4, even in Mission 1 should you return there, not during the first playthrough. There could be more spawn locations as the game wants you to have a cute buddy!
