Today is Friday 13th, the day that Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios has decided to reveal a new character for Mortal Kombat X. I wonder why? It's because the character in question is unstoppable hockey-masked killer, Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th movies. That's the good bit.

The not quite so good bit is that like Freddy Krueger in 2011's Mortal Kombat, he won't be in the game as standard, but included as part of the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack. In layman's terms, that means he'll be included in the season pass alongside two 'Klassic' Mortal Kombat fighters and a second guest character.

The Kombat Pack will also include five additional character skins, including three new character skins for Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok and Jingu Kitana in the Samurai Pack. That's Kenshi and Shinnok confirmed as playable then. Kombat Pack owners will also gain early access to future DLC before it goes on sale individually.

Mortal Kombat X is out on 14th April for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Rumblings abound that the last-gen version might be delayed until June, although nothing's been confirmed as yet. The Kombat Pack will be out the same day, priced $29.99/Â£24.99.
