We love us some Fatal Frame (technically called Project Zero in Europe, but we prefer the US name). Tecmo's horror series plays like a photographic Luigi's Mansion, tasking a range of spooked teenage girls to creep around dusty mansions trapping hostile spirits in a magic camera. After two Wii iterations (IV and a remake of II), the game now heads to Wii U. Check out the first trailer...

According to a special video presentation that aired last night - complete with a cameo from Mr Miyamoto - the new instalment is themed around water, which is both justification for some very shiny graphics (check out the moitsure flowing down the protagonists arm in the trailer) and the promise of lank haired horrors emerging from murky depths. While the focus on the game remains on snapping ghosts around creaky Japanese houses, the central 'combat' gets welcomed lick of Wii U paint. The GamePad doubles as the Camera Obscura, asking you to swivel on the spot to grab that killer shot (the better framed/closer the ghost is, the more damage the photograph does). We'll admit that the day Nintendo announced the GamePad we've been dreaming of this exact game coming to Wii U, so this is exciting stuff.

Question is, will it ever make its way westwards? Fatal Frame IV never came to UK shores, though we did get the remake of Fatal Frame II (which never reached America). Fingers crossed.
