Reportedly, "The Last of Us 2" release date will be officially announced following the launch of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" this year. The speculations about the sequel allegedly came after Naughty Dog announced that there are already ideas on how "TLOU" would come along, but would have to be "put on ice" as everyone is still busy with "Uncharted 4." "We're 110 percent in 'Uncharted 4' territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome," "The Last Of Us" series developer Bruce Straley said as reported by Gamers. "We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for 'The Last of Us,' and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on 'Uncharted 4.'" In a separate report by Cinema Blend, while game creator Neil Druckmann did not adress the rumors milling about "The Last of Us 2" release date, he did talk about the possibility of Joel and Ellie not appearing in the sequel. "I'd probably reconsider the story at that point," he said when asked about Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson not reprising their roles. "They are Joel and Ellie to me. No one should be that smart, talented, and attractive. It's sick really." While he did not confirm that there is going to be a sequel to "The Last of Us," his statement immediately fueled speculations that it is being considered. This is however contrary to Druckmann's previous statement about the future of the game. He once said that "The Last of Us 2" has probably a "50/50" chance as he believes that the game does not require a sequel of some sort. "We have such limited resources, and it's a question of where you put the resources," the director said in an interview. "It's something where we can have a feel of where the demand is, and where our time is best spent. It's something that we'll figure out as we move forward." Source: FH
