    The Xbox One has been out for a year now and we have had hints of a modded firmware from C4eva possibly being on the Horizon via a recent IRC chat;

    [2014-11-04 11:17AM UTC] #c4e <BL4K3Y> I think XBONE owners are hiding in the shadows until they hear some news lol
    [2014-11-04 11:23AM UTC] #c4e <c4eva> yes, well on that, i've had some breakthroughs, the sun is definitely rising on a new dawn!
    [2014-11-04 11:23AM UTC] #c4e <BL4K3Y> oh cool. that sounds interesting!
    [2014-11-04 11:29AM UTC] #c4e <c4eva> yeah, thats all i can say at the moment but its looking good!

    The question is, would you open up your Xbox One and void the warranty (unless) of course its a Day One edition in which case the warranty will be expired now anyway?

    Even if it was in warranty would you still open it up to mod the drive or add some sort of drive emulator?

    Personally I know from experience that jumping head over heels into new CFW for any device, is way to risky for your average gamer...That being said, I'm guessing if your on this forum reading this message, your probably not your average gamer. So, When I first started modding my PS1 with the disc swap trick, It was really easy to break the system, in fact, I've never had a system not break on me one way or another, most the time it's because I'm lazy and don't read ahead when trying something new...

    Now another thing is your saying right when I open my system, the warranty is voided, but trust me when I say there is always a way around safegaurds be it a heat gun, or someone selling those pesky warranty labels for 5 bucks on craigslist. So personally I say "no guts, no glory!" With that said, if it's something you have to solder in place, I doubt I'll be one of the first to take the plunge, mainly because I need a lot of practice before I give up something I use on a daily basis.

    But if it's a softmod that can be reversed by a simple recovery or by formatting a new HDD, I would have no problem giving it a try...

    Game On,

    Weeze

    The key to having a modified system is NOT to play games to early,
    if you can handle that, I don't see you getting hit anytime soon. So YES,
    it would be worth breaking the warranty to me. (X1 Day 1 Owner).
