Sony has confirmed plans to released the PlayStation App - a companion app to the PS4 - on November 13. The PlayStation App will serve as a companion app to PS4, enabling a variety of second screen features much like Xbox One's much touted 'SmartGlass'. Supported titles will let users "interact with games with their mobiles devices" in various ways, says Sony. As the firm examples, "The Playroom, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game." Second screen functionality will also be provided on Vita via a 'PS4 Link' application that will be added to the portable as part of an upcoming system firmware update. Sony has confirmed that a day-one PS4 system firmware update will be required to enable a number of key system features, including remote play and second screen functionality. Source: CVG
