Corporate vice president explains pre-owned and sharing discs and internet connections....

Microsoft's Phil Harrison has attempted to shed some light on the confusion surrounding the new Xbox One. There has been a lot of speculation about the "always on" and after the Xbox One reveal people seem to be none the wiser, some are even more confused now due to confusion over shared and pre owned games!
The corporate vice president of Microsoft has said:

Microsoft is basically aiming for a built-in online pass system. You will be able to take your game to a friends house and play it for FREE but only if you are signed into YOUR profile. If you want to share a game across different profiles you will be charged a fee.

Microsoft apparently does have a plan for the popular pre owned market:

According to Harrison theres no need for an Always online connection:

So it wont be essential to be online all the time. Great news eh XPG?

What are your thoughts on the new Xbox One....? Is it everything you hoped for , or a massive let down?

"The bits are on your hard drive. At the end of the play session, when I take my disc home - or even if I leave it with you - if you want to continue to play that game [on your profile] then you have to pay for it. The bits are already on your hard drive, so it's just a question of going to our [online] store and buying the game, and then it's instantly available to play."
Microsoft apparently does have a plan for the popular pre owned market:

"We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store. We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course."
According to Harrison theres no need for an Always online connection:

"Some bits of the system will work offline. I think the key point to make is that Xbox One requires an internet connection, but it does not need to be connected all the time. We think that most of the biggest games on Xbox One and most of the games and experiences and services you want to use will be internet-connected."
So it wont be essential to be online all the time. Great news eh XPG?
i loved what they showed! I'm certainly getting it but there's some things that I expected more or some I didn't expect at all .. The always online issue doesn't bother me but things like used game fees and the fact you can't play old games kinda upsets me! And also why didn't they show any game? I expected to see at least forza and FIFA yesterday

I won't be putting money into this until C4EVA and Xecuter come up with some bypass for it.

there is an updated version on eurogamer that confirms this was incorrect and YOU DO NOT pay a fee to play rentals or pre owned games, its the retailers who will pay this
