I've been searching around on the net looking for answers but can't find any. What I'm wondering about is what is the purpose for extracting the .xex file sometimes when ISO modding?

cos in certain games such as (world at war)
if you overwrit/injected a file and left the default.xex in it would corrupt the disc when trying to play
    however
if you extracted the xex then injected your modded file
then replaced the xex it wouldnt cause black screen/error messges

still a bit of a puzzle to me really on that 1 but if in doubt allways extract the default.xex replace ya modded files then place the xex back after ;)

That makes sense. I have been trying different mods, and once I burn to disc I get black screen, and the system is non responsive to the guide button, etc...I will always extract it then inject back from now on just to be sure. Thanks.
