In news that will surely gladden the heart of reviewers worldwide, the Xbox One is to receive a screenshot capturing function via downloadable update. It'll also get custom dashboard themes and backgrounds. When will these features arrive? That's for Phil Spencer to know and you to wonder about.

"I was told themes and background pics are something that we are working on and screenshots, you know people beat me up on screenshots,"

Spencer observed on a recent episode of the Inner Circle podcast.

"The team has done a great job with the monthly updates, some of the things are just a prioritization and are a time in development.

"But I know that people like to customize the look of their dash," he went on. "And I think both themes, backgrounds and screenshots are things I know people want so we are going to deliver on them. But we can't give a when yet."

IGN has obtained a PR statement reinforcing all this. "We've been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many of those features and more as part of our regular Xbox One system updates," it reads. "We look forward to sharing more details in the future."

This month's Xbox One update includes enhancements for Snap mode, achievements, the Friends section and SmartGlass. In other news, Microsoft has hinted that it may do more with Xbox Live.
