An mandatory update is rolling out today for Xbox One that promises to fix OS issues.

Microsoft is rolling out an update today that is set to fix issues with the operating system, but only those using the 'Instant On' feature will get the update today. For everybody else you will receive the update thursday.

Instant on will automatically download the update after you turn it off. Once the update has been downloaded in the background, your console will power completely down, but you will have to manually turn the Xbox back on afterwards.

    Microsoft have said:

The update will be available first for those using the Xbox One "Instant On" low-power state feature (which automatically checks for updates) beginning today at 5 p.m. PDT. People not using the Instant On feature won't be able to download and apply the update until sometime after Thursday, December 12 at 4 p.m. PDT.

Here is the list of fixes in this update:
Microsoft state that this is one of many updates expected.
Sony are also releasing a system update for the ps4.
