Microsoft has again discussed the possibility of making Xbox One backwards compatible with original Xbox games, saying “nothing’s impossible”. Speaking to The Inner Circle podcast, Xbox engineering boss Mike Ybarra said that while Microsoft isn’t looking at the functionality now, he wouldn’t rule it out in the future.
Rather than add Xbox One backwards compatibility with games from the company’s console debut, Microsoft is instead focused on bringing as many titles as possible to Xbox One’s Xbox 360 backwards compatibility. "We're not looking at original Xbox games on Xbox One yet," said Yabarra. "Right now the focus is making more Xbox 360 games work. [It would be] certainly very challenging. Getting Xbox 360 games to work was incredibly challenging and really a multi-year engineering investment.
“Going all the way back to the original certainly would challenge the team. I'm sure they would love that one as an opportunity to go look at”.
This is also a recent look and news on the new backwards compatibility motion in action for this 2015 year. We could be expecting a lot more games to come and more fun to be relived with them. Many people ask why they can't just do all the games at once and that is because they have to compact the game and update it to the new standards it must be for the Xbox One. Another problem is expiring or changing licenses that may no longer be valid and games that just have no chance of being able to be played on the Xbox One because of how precise they're. Don't get your hops down, there is still a huge chance that one game you're exactly waiting for is still on it's way for you.
Quick look at where it is today:
