I just turned on my xbox, to be greated with a message saying there is an update availible for xbox live.

Does anyone have any info about this update? I have a flashed drive, if I accept the update will my drive firmware be reset to stock?

It's possible. Unflash and reflash afterwards.

I ask because I can't reflash, I don't have the tools for it. I got a buddy of mine to flash my drive, so I would want to avoid having my drive reflashed to stock.

I doubt it but you never know, anything is possible. I say wait a couple hours and see what other people say.

Edit: Just turned on my Xbox, didn't get an update.

Hmm. It seems like my hard drive was simply loose. I resecured it and it didn't ask me to update anymore. Weird. Sorry for the false alarm!

Rule of thumb is always always always flash back to stock before applying update and reflash back to modded firmware. I use an external enclosure from team-xecutor that has a external drive (model) and my internal stock. This way I just press the button to switch to my stock for updates then press it again after to go back to modded. Really easy and no reflashing needed. Will set u back about $80 bucks but worth it IMO. Have ur friend flash to stock for the update and flash back to modded after. If your friend charges you u may want to consider gettin the gear to do it yourself.
