As we all know Microsoft has had a hard time containing some of the biggest pieces of information concerning the anticipated Xbox 720, the latest leak is about the Xbox 720 system specs that gaming developers are working with. According to a report from EGMNOW yesterday, a new developer kit leak has surfaced from an employee with a major third party publisher. Other folks who know who this person is claim that he is in fact a member of the gaming industry, which has been in question. The leak itself points to the Xbox 720 featuring an 8-Core CPU, 8GB memory, an AMD 8800 Series GPU, Windows 8 Kernel OS and a 640GB hard drive. This is indeed the developer version of the system, so these specs will most likely end up not being exactly what the consumer system looks like. One obvious feature that will probably be cut in half is the size of the system's hard drive, but nonetheless, 320GB is still a monster drive. The size of the drive would be explained if the next-generation console required gamers to download full versions of each game they purchased, but that is still a highly unlikely possibility. What do you think about the specs, impressed or not?
The specs are good "for now" Give it a year and they will be behind again. There will be a lot better hardware out.
they sound good, but I wont be buying this straight away! 640GB will be huge compared to my 60GB that i have now
Looks good, would like to see a picture of the final result. The coolest thing is that this Xbox will be cheaper than the Xbox 360 at the first release.
well its just a reasonable upgrade.. lets face it the xbox360 still uses dvd as a medium - with the new one i expect MS to update to bluray and with that there will be bigger games. if i would put all my game son my hdd as of now instead of just my most palyed ones my 250gb disc would be full. hh: but yeah looking forward to it - good starting specs - cant wait
8GB or ram that's not much and hardly future proof. I would of thought there would be 16GB ram as most good laptops are 4-8GB and they will be now good in 4 years. And I've had a look around other places are saying 16GB ram which personally I thinkn is more realistic as they want this console to last at least another 5 years and in 2018 8GB or ram will be really out dates think of the high spec PC's they all have at least 16GB ram some going twice that
My thoughts 8 core CPU: yes, awesome depending on clock speeds 8 GB ram: no, this is cheap as hell... Come on M$.. Do it right. I have 24GBs in a cheap 2008 build PC. Least they can do is go 12GBs of ram. Hardrive: yes, 640 GB entry level range with possible 1 to 2 to 3 TB upgrade-able drive replacements would be awesome. Price: $400 hell yes that would be fair!! Actually $400 is a good deal. But I'd rather spend $500 to $600 to get a better system option. After thought: Why the hell did they go with AMD for GPU instead of Nvidia? Bet u Nvidia got greedy and wouldn't negotiate or via versa. Sent from Tapatalk
People saying things about the RAM have to bare in mind, the 360 only has 512mb of RAM. PC's use more RAM as they have more software using resources e.g. burning/gaming/anti-virus/firewall/networking/hardware based etc. the new Xbox will be pretty much dedicated with a few things thrown in. 8GB is more than enough but my main concern is the clocked core speed on the new CPU, 8 cores might sound enough but if they only clock in .5 GHz per core for example that's won't be enough. I mean Qualcomms snapdragon quad core phone processor has been overclocked to 2.4GHz per core IN A PHONE!!
