    Ok lets Install some programs , *a Clean OS recommended Without ANY other codecs installed...

    [IMG]

    [IMG]
    ^ choose FULL install , and then setup as per pictures...

    [IMG]

    [IMG]
    ^ during installation , UNCHECK haali media splitter / then setup as per picture

    [IMG]
    ^ check all during installation

    [IMG]
    ^ choose FULL install , then setup as per picture

    ( windows media encoder & expressions encoder should be FULL installed as well )

    So Now with any luck we have all codecs installed correctly.
    - cccp will NOT handle ac3/dts , x264 or avc
    - ac3filter will handle ac3/dts
    - coreavc will handle x264 & avc

    * if installed correct ,
    - only coreavc,ac3filter & haali media splitter ICONS should be in your taskbar when playing mkv files!

    ===========================================================

    Now the FUN begins , learning how to use Expressions Encoder 3 - lol

    *start up expressions

    1. choose file ( at top left ) then choose IMPORT & change browse to ALL files
    2. open your .mkv or *whatever it may be ...
    3. Let it load up , now choose OPTIONS ( at top middle )
    4. within the options menu of expressions , be sure each filter has a check in the box
    5. so now your video file & codecs are loaded ...

    On the left side of expressions , you will see alot of settings & video/audio options

    [IMG]
    ^ the above picture is the basic setup you need for MOST video files ...

    * you will need to open the summary window to know your estmated file size & such
    - ( at top right of expressions / next to HELP )
    * you can hide the preset window as well ...

    [IMG]
    ^ the above picture shows you the basic setup for 5.1 wma pro audio

    - ( one pass is enuff , you can go 2 pass if you feel )

    [IMG]
    ^ this is your vc-1 advanced settings

    * DO NOT GO tweaking around untill you get familar with expresions
    - the video complexity can be whatever you choose /
    - fastest(0) to good(2) is 100% ok , anything more is overkill ... ( i choose fastest(0) myself )

    ===========================================================

    other notes :

    max vbr video bitrate should be NO MORE than 15000 15-MB , i use 14500 14.5-MB
    audio bitrates can be whatever you choose

    should keep the estimated file size under 7.9 GB
    ^ the peak video bitrate can stay , just change your average video or audio bitrate to adjust size

    make sure to use square pixels if you choose to resize the aspect of your file
    for the most part just choose source as aspect & ratio
    double check the pixel aspect ratio , shoul be 1:1 if nothing was resized ...

    be sure to set your framerate to 23.976
    peak buffer & key frame intervals should be the same , ( anywhere from 5 to 20 is ok )

    dont change anything on the clips tab

    tho you can add the metadata if you like ... from the metadata tab ( i dont bother )

    ===========================================================

    * i understand this all may seem like alot ,
    - but with any luck & after afew encodes it becomes 2nd nature & easy as pie ...

    now switch over to the output tab & choose the same location as your source video file

    Hit encode & wait for the magic to happen
    ^ dont use your pc , leave it alone / it will take awhile !
