hello, I was wondering if XPG ever break away from IPB reason is i have a software thats called https://www.woltlab.com its a mix of Xenforo and IPB! that i bought and i dnt use it! reason unknown you can whats called an Importer to transfer from current to Wotlab whatever Just wondering!
It's very doubtful they would break away from IPB, also I don't see any reason they would need to change :O
Would all the hooks still work, forums switch over with no bug, security still be the same that IPB has worked on for years, skins work... bug free? ...why would it be any better than a current IPB, would it need a new license, does it have good support and teams on standby to help? Looking through those boards I don't even think that thing could hold XPG's forums lol
From what I read, it's built off of IPB, so in theory the hooks and add-ons would transfer over with very little configuration, the skin would be the one difference more than likely. He never claimed it was better than IPB, but security wise, it looks like they have it up to IPB standards or close too, from what I have gathered. I am not sure however what you mean by "I am not even sure that thing could hold XPG's forum" why wouldn't it? Forum software is just software, it's the server behind it that manages it is what measures it's performance. I don't see why it wouldn't be able to support XPG, as like I said above it is built off of IPB, and the database structure is managed by MySQL, so really no reason why not too move, except for the obvious reason that his forum's skin and really anything hasn't been updated since I have been a member.
I honestly don't have an issue with IPB, but I would prefer XPG to be on XenForo as of now. XenForo is much smoother. IPB3 is good for small sites but once they take off and get as big as XPG it seems like IPB3 gets a little laggy and not very smooth anymore. I do prefer XPG to be on XenForo simply because of the smoothness of it, however, it most likely won't happen. No reason to really since IPB4 is out and soon enough most likely XPG will use it. If IPB4 is smooth and less laggy, then no XPG shouldn't break off. However, if IPB keeps letting us down with buggy and choppy softwares I do believe XPG should switch. But just because I think it should doesn't mean it will. IPB isn't broken but just a little laggy in my opinion, so it would be completely up to the owners.
