Trying to mod minecraft

    I have been trying to mod my minecraft world but when I try to load the modded world it resets the whole world. I was wondering if anyone eles is have this issue? If so and you have figured it out please post how.
    I have tried doing released items only and only 30 of each item. I'm going to try and just mod the amount and see if that might work. Thank you in advanced for your time and help.
