Ubisoft’s The Division has become the best-selling week one new franchise game in industry history, as well as (of course), the publisher’s best-selling launch game ever.
No actual numbers were supplied, but the previous record-holder was Bungie and Activision’s Destiny, which raked in $330 million worldwide in its first five days on sale.
Other impressive The Division stats include the fact that the game peaked at 1.2 million concurrent players over the weekend, and more than 100 million hours of play were logged during launch week.
"The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement,” sais Ubi boss bloke Yves Guillemot. “We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support”.
"The Division is the latest example yet of our unique ability to deliver immersive gaming playgrounds that keeps players engaged and that they eagerly share with their friends and community.”
