GTA 5 studio looking to bring RAGE to Xbox 720

In news that should astound precisely nobody, Rockstar is staffing up for work on next generation consoles.
"We'd like to hear from the industry's most talented environment artists," reads a Rockstar North job vacancy posted last year. "You will be designing, building and texturing the world, have the technical knowledge to achieve great looking results and the skill to get the most from next-gen consoles."
Elsewhere, Rockstar England is looking for a graphics programmer who "will be responsible for maintaining and extending the graphics engine on next-gen platforms, breaking new ground in visual effects, and optimizing graphics techniques to meet desired frame rate." [IMG] The technology of the future.
The engine in question is, of course, Rockstar's proprietary RAGE tech, deployed to fine effect in Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4.
According to an animation programmer listing, The RAGE Technology Group itself is "looking at future needs and expansion of its RAGE engine and team by leveraging proven technologies created in our games as well as making key feature and optimization enhancements within all of its subsystems."
A graphics programmer is sought "to create our next-generation graphics pipeline that includes full shader support, advanced lighting/rendering techniques, and special effects."
Rockstar's big game of 2012 (sorry, Max Payne 3) is Grand Theft Auto 5, its "largest and most ambitious" GTA yet. Launch specifics are still TBC, but we've speculated at length on GTA 5's release date.
We'll be very surprised if it's a next generation game - while good-looking, the trailer isn't exactly the stuff dreams are made of.
