Harmonix has announced that it will cease weekly song DLC packs for Rock Band in April.

After 275 consecutive weeks of new songs, the final weekly DLC will arrive on April 2 for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

"With several new titles in development and developers needed to usher these new games along, April 2 will be the last weekly DLC release for Rock Band," Harmonix said.

In the remaining weeks, Harmonix said that it will still release new content including "the remaining tracks from Rock Band Blitz, several Pro Guitar upgrades, and a handful of artists who have not yet appeared in Rock Band".

Over 4,000 songs have released for the Rock Band series since the first game launched in 2007.

Harmonix has once again extended its ongoing sale on over 1,100 Rock Band tracks which it says is a thanks to the community of fans.

"We hope that you'll all agree this has been a tremendous run, and you should know it's a ride that we at Harmonix have been thrilled to be a part of. We're going to continue to support the forums and RockBand.com and hope to still see you rocking out online," Harmonix said.

Harmonix has not officially confirmed what other titles it has in development at this time, but last year said that it was working on at least three new intellectual properties.
