Ok guys/girls, i found a guy wanting to sell me a phat model ps3 for 50 dollars, the problem is he says when you turn it on, it turns right back off beeps and just blinks a red light. I havent done a whole lot of ps3 work myself and google has mixed answers to what this could be and if its fixable. my question is, what is it most likely, can it be fixed (perminently), and is it worth 50 dollars? its only the system with power cord, no av's or controller. he says he is 40 and isnt into gaming so he doesnt know anything else about the unit. any help or input is MORE than welcome!
Not used to PS3's myself but a quick Google turned it multiple answers, It's overheating use a hoover or some type of air can canister to clean it out. It's a HDD failure causing a boot issue, try to remove the HDD and put it back it, or try a new HDD, It will need a reflow.
I had a similar problem. Initially, the console during the game stopped showing, and then when you turn on the beeps and blinks red fire. Carried to the master and he said the video chip overheated and he fell off. For repairs asked $ 45, which I think is expensive(
