Phil Spencer: Sony Has Done a "Nice Job" With PS4, Nintendo Franchises are "Amazing"

It's no secret that Microsoft's foray into the next generation hasn't exactly been perfect. With Xbox One's DRM debacle still looming slightly overhead, Microsoft Studio boss Phil Spencer seems to have indirectly acknowledged his own company's failure to clearly define their flagship gaming product. When discussing the launch of the competing PS4 with OXM, the man himself admitted that Sony's "clear focus on a customer, leading with the value proposition of what they’re trying to do, staying true to a vision, I think they've done a nice job in how they defined the PS4.” With its many policy and promotional changes prior to launch, its hard to say Xbox One enjoyed the same luxury.

The love fest didn't stop with Sony however, as Spencer also gave due respect to Nintendo and their "amazing" first-party franchises. In that regard, he said "their first party studios and IP can lead what they do as a company and the platforms are almost in service to the IP – not in a bad way.” Essentially what he means is that the developer's top-quality exclusive content is what drives Nintendo consoles to leave store shelves.
