We all have faced it, every computer on Earth will eventually die off and will continue to run slower and slower as time progresses. Well a computer is much like a car engine, with the proper care, you can turn that older PC and upgrade that bad baby into a V8 Engine (figuratively speaking). But how? I will explain what I do to keep my PC as clean as it can get and have it running at it's max performance and there is quite a bit of free tools that do this easily enough.

Defragmentation is one of the most important parts of maintaining file transfer speeds and just an overall faster computer speed response time. By default, your computer is usually set to run on a schedule for disk defragmentation and you can check to see if yours is on a schedule by simply pressing the start button and searching for "Disk Defragmenter" and it will say a scheduled time unless for some reason it was turned off. Mine is set to do it at 1:00 AM every Wednesday since I am asleep most of the time you will usually never know if it has been done or not. But just make sure you have this scheduled and let the program do it's thing.

Anti-Virus, this is one of the most controversial topics when it comes to PC optimization, I personally use "Windows Security Essentials" which is a lightweight Windows anti-virus designed by Microsoft for there operating systems, thus it barely consumes any type of RAM and even processor speed. You can use Malware Bytes Pro which costs but it is in my opinion the most lightweight anti-virus/anti-malware there is and you can set it to do scheduled scans of your PC, remember don't work hard, work smarter, let the computer do the work to clean itself.

CCleaner and PC cleaners, these programs are designed to clean out junk that you would never see unless you knew where to look, they clean the crevices of your PC that will eventually hold your systems performance as if it was gasping for air under water. CCleaner is a free program that I use on my own PC as it has scheduling software you can use to have it clean up your registry, clean up cookies and cache or basically trash in your PC.

If you have any questions, just ask!
