A coder has released a piece of software that enables players to use an Xbox One controller on a PC.

Lucas Assis developed the tool in a day and posted a video to YouTube explaining how to set it up.

Anyone keen on trying the tool out will need to download the RAR file and follow the steps shown in the video.

However, Assis warns: "It works, and it works great, but it's not really that easy to install.

It involves installing another two programs, both which are open-source and adware free."

Assis also promises to have a version available soon for Mac and Linux users.

This workaround should only be considered a temporary solution for an issue that Microsoft has already pledged to fix.

The company told CVG last year that official PC support for the Xbox One controller would be added some time in 2014.

Software is in the works that will not only add PC compatibility for the new controller, but will allow also allow it to work "seamlessly" with games designed to use the Xbox 360 pad.

But Microsoft has stressed that this requires substantial work due to the vast architectural differences between the two controllers.
