Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer is interested in bringing Gears of War to Xbox One, but has suggested that fresh life would first need to be breathed into Epic's series. 2006's Gears of War, 2008's Gears of War 2, 2011's Gears of War 3 and 2013's Gears of War Judgment were all published by Microsoft on Xbox 360. But the most recent title, which was the first to be developed by People Can Fly, a subsidiary of series creator Epic Games, didn't live up to the platform holder's expectations, Spencer suggested during an interview with IGN. "I want to find a great Gears game. And I thought we did a good job with Judgment, but I don't think it hit the level of quality that we saw in the previous games," he said. "I think review scores showed that, sales showed that. "I really think we'd need to take a step back with Epic and think about, I wouldn't call it a reboot because I think that's an overused term, but think about where that franchise goes and how to expand what it was. I'd love to have that conversation. "I do talk to the Epic guys often. They're also busy right now. I think that they've said that Gears is kind of on the back burner for them. So I think it would be a situation when the opportunity came up at the right time it'd be great to sit down with them. "They're again the right team to work on that game. Trying to find another team to do that game I think is possible, but you'd want to make sure you did that very carefully along with them to make sure we had the right thing in place. "But I think that franchise would need to be, not reworked, but you'd think about how to expand the universe and what people are doing. Maybe make it more gritty, I don't know. You'd want to do something with it because I think it did kind of run its course on 360. And it was a great success on 360, but it doesn't quite have the story arc of a thing like Halo or something, at least the way it's played out in the games and I think we'd want to pump that up." another gow j and epic games turns to **** in other news http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/11/gears-of-war-on-3ds-this-is-very-close/
Its kind of obvious to me that GOW would need to be " re imagined" on the Xbox One. GOW 1 was the game that hooked a lot of people and made them buy the Xbox 360 back in the day, but none of the GOW releases since the first have even come close. All game developers have an amazing opportunity now to push the next gen consoles to the absolute limit and shock and awe us. I believe that EPIC are Honor-bound to make Gears Of War Seriously a Time to remember , just like GOW 1. With the Next Gen consoles releasing Around The world developers will have to Mix it up to win people around. Having said all that, i think you Always Remember Your First , and topping GOW1 will take some doing. :troll:
