Microsoft has confirmed that your Gamerscore will be ported over from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One, along with your gamertag and your avatar.

The news comes courtesy of the company's UK marketing director Harvey Eagle, speaking at a screening of the Xbox Reveal event in London today. "Your hard-earned Gamerscore will port over, so yes you'll take that with you," he said.

"You'll also take your Gamertag, your identity with you. Whilst we're making a much bigger bet on natural identity with the camera, Avatars will also feature as well. All of the gaming identity that you have on Xbox 360 will be there on Xbox One as well."

What you won't be able to take with you is any Xbox Live Arcade purchases, as the Xbox One will not be in any way backwards compatible. However, entertainment content that you've purchased, such as movies, will carry over.

The company has also confirmed to Polygon that your Xbox Live Gold account will be shared across the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and multiple household members will be able to share the same subscription but with different accounts.

So for those who do not buy games on marketplace this is great, but for those of us that have spent a fair amount of money on downloadable games, whether it be arcade games or even full game downloads, this is a huge thing that we will not be able to overlook. If you have had a 5 year account, you probably have spent a fair amount of money on games, and now they are worthless. They actually are a huge waist of money since the new xbox isnt backwards compatible.

When you buy a Xbox One, your Xbox 360 doesn't go up in flames. Just play both. ;)

I wish I was that wealthy. Us poor folk have to trade in our current consoles to get the next one...

I wouldn't mind the option of resetting GS but still keeping my GT/Profile once porting over since there's no backwards comp for XBLA and 360 Games, and since it's a new console, why not start fresh

who gives a fuk bout gamer score ffs? its just a title that gives attention whores another way to say "oohhhh look at me an how coolz i am" its easily manipulated too so i view it as nothing more that another form of trolling. besides xbox1 is gonna suck balls anyway, online required just to play a game! wtf.. i'd rather buy an atari than that bs of a console. -_-
