On the 360 you could browse through your media library on your PC with tversity and such.

But now with the one it can't see a media server, at least not yet.

There is a rather awesomely simple workaround though.

There is a program called Skifta. (Google it)
    It's stupid simple to use.
Is available for android, iOS and PC.
    Also FREE!

I've been running it through my phone.

    DL it.
Select your media server on your comp.
Select your Xbox one as playback device.
    ???
    Profit

Once set up, just browse your library, pick something and play it.
It automatically opens Xbox video and starts it.

PS: everything must be on the same network of course.

Tried this but couldn't get Skifta to detect the X1. The X1 and the PC I tired it on, are on the same network with the same subnet but still nothing. Really didn't troubleshoot it that long, if anyone else has this problem and finds a fix let me know.

    Things to try.
Give the Xbox a custom name in system settings.

In preferences make sure "Allow Play To streaming" is on.
