hi i know that the ps2 is really old, but i just started today to try to play a few games i had for a while. and my ps2 is a slim model number 70011. i've had the ps2 in my basement for a while to. the games look fine, but when i power on my ps2 it goes to my Browser - System Configuration screen and freezes but the swirling lights thing still swirl around. i tried putting my cd in before powering on but when it plays my cd 5 sec later it freezes. any help would be great thanks=)
you tried opening it up and cleaning inside even in the dvd drive sitting in a basement for yrs it could have moisture dust etc inside my ps2 never had screws on it as i used to burn my own games or put them on the hdd as i aint got the slim i was messing about with mine a few weeks back to make sure it was ok for my friend let me know how you get on edit just read this give it a try shut the console off and then take out the power plug for about 5 min and then plug everything and turn it on and see if it works​ or go here its a guide on how to clean the lense http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-PlayStation-2-Lens​ that can cause the problem it being dirty
i just tried both things you told me to do but it still doing the same thing. thanks for trying to help=) btw did i need to open up my ps2? cause the slim version has the pop up eject. thanks
