GRID 2 developer Codemasters has blown the doors off the game’s bespoke multiplayer campaign, and has released a batch of shiny gameplay new screens into the wild. The studio is also live-streaming the game’s online modes tonight.

In a note sent to VG247 this afternoon, Codemasters confirmed it would be live-streaming a selection of the game’s multiplayer features tonight from 6pm GMT / 10am PT on the GRID 2 Twitch channel. The full video will be available shortly after on the GRID 2 YouTube channel.

GRID 2′s multiplayer campaign is separate to the single-player experience and begins with a garage of starter cars. You can then level up with XP and buy new cars with money earned through competing in fierce 12-player events.

Online modes include Endurance, Drift, Touge, Checkpoint, Face Off, Time Attack, and there’s also a string of global challenge events updated weekly over RaceNet including Overtake and Power Lap challenges.

You’ll also be given a weekly match-maked rival from anywhere in the world, and whether they’re on or offline at the time, you can earn rewards if you’re able to crush their best times. You can also hand-pick your rival personally, choose a friend to compete against, or rumble with people you’ve shared lobbies with previously.

There’s also a new anti-griefing system that sees mass shunters bandied together in matchmaking so they don’t annoy everyone else, and there’s the ability to share replays over YouTube, and bleat about your personal achievements over Facebook or Twitter.

It’s a massively social game, and you can read more about the development of GRID 2′s multiplayer in our full interview with Codemasters right here next week on VG247.

If multiplayer’s not your bag you needn’t worry, as Codemasters told us earlier today that the single-player campaign has over 30 hours worth of content. Hit the link to find out more.

GRID 2 launches on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 across North American from May 28, and across Europe from May 31.
