I found this editor to mod the coal thing, i just increased roadie run speed abit and gnasher damage. Can i use this online or will i get banned, will it even work? dont like wasting another dvd. And what about the xex file do i have to replace that with another one.

Most games are not iso moddable online because they are patched regularly and any modifications wiped out. You should always replace the Xex file with a clean one whenever you do any iso modding. Your changes will work offline no worries but should you connect to live and update then bye-bye. Hope that answers your problem.

Having a flashed xbox online is risky. I wouldn't play online because you will definitely eventually get banned just for having a flashed console but you can still connect and download DLC no worries. Generally speaking if someone has modded the game after the last title update and there are no more updates you could play it online but getting banned is still almost inevitable so do so at your own risk. If you really want to play modded stuff online you're best bet is to JTAG your console because they have they're own lobbies and can get around any bans that do occur.
you can go online with a modded iso yes but you always run the risk of a ban on doing so. also, as soon as you connect to live and download the mandatory TU's to play online it will make your game legit thus rendering your mods useless anyways until you clear your cache and play offline again.
only way possible would be xex mods or some sort of dlc mod like gears 3 for example, would be xdk/rgh/jtag only no isos if it works/latest tu.
