Get Windows 8 Theme on Windows 7 (+ Extras)

    Let's be honest here, we all know that Windows 8 wasn't the greatest OS ever made. I prefer my Windows 7. I do however love the Windows 8 theme. So I'm going to be showing you how to do that.​

    Theme Patcher for x32 and x64 (whichever bit system you're using)​
    Windows 8 RTM Theme Pack​
    "Take Ownership" patch (For Windows 8 Forward/Back buttons)​
    * Windows 7 Start Orb Changer (Download here)​
    * Windows 7 Start Menu Picture Frame Changer (Download Here)​

    > Patch your system with the Theme Patcher for either x32 or x64. Reboot your computer.​
    > Select your preferred theme from the Windows 8 Theme Files folder.​
    > Take the preferred color Windows Theme File as well as the Windows 8 folder and copy them.​

    > Paste both files into the "Themes" directory on your C: drive. ​
    Windows 7 - C:\Windows\Resources\Themes​
    Windows Vista - C:\Windows\Resources\Themes ​
    > Double click on the Windows Theme File for the theme to change.​

    FOR WINDOWS 7 32-BIT USERS
    1.Take ownership (permission) of the file "ExplorerFrame.dll" from folder "C:\Windows\System32" and rename it to, for example, "ExplorerFrame_old.dll".​
    2.Copy "ExplorerFrame.dll" from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Navigation Buttons\32-BIT" and paste it into "C:\Windows\System32"​
    3.Log off or reboot your computer.​
    FOR WINDOWS 7 64-BIT USERS
    1.Take ownership (permission) of the file "ExplorerFrame.dll" from folders "C:\Windows\System32" and "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" and rename it to, for example, "ExplorerFrame_old.dll".​
    2.Copy "ExplorerFrame.dll" from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Navigation Buttons\64-BIT" and paste it into "C:\Windows\System32" folder. Also copy "ExplorerFrame.dll" from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Navigation Buttons\32-BIT" and paste it into "C:\Windows\SysWOW64".​
    3.Log off or reboot your computer.​

    1. Launch "Windows 7 Start Orb Changer v5.exe"​
    2. Navigate to the Start Orb folder in the Windows 8 Theme Files folder​
    "Windows 8 Theme Files\Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Start Menu Button"​
    3. Choose the preferred start orb image.​

    FOR WINDOWS 7 32-BIT USERS

    1.Take ownership (permission) of the file "shell32.dll" from folder "C:\Windows\System32" and rename it to, for example, "shell32_old.dll".

    2.Copy "shell32.dll" file from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\White Task Pane\32-BIT" to "C:\Windows\System32" folder.

    3.Reboot your computer.

    FOR WINDOWS 7 64-BIT USERS

    1.Take ownership (permission) of the file "shell32.dll" from folders "C:\Windows\System32" and "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" and rename it to, for example, "shell32_old.dll".

    2.Copy "shell32.dll" file from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\White Task Pane\64-BIT" to "C:\Windows\System32" folder. Also copy "shell32.dll" file from folder "Windows 8~8.1 Extras\White Task Pane\32-BIT" to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder.

    3.Reboot your computer.

    1. Select all the font files located in "Windows 8 Theme Files\Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Windows 8 Fonts\Segoe UI" and copy/paste them into "C:\Windows\Fonts".

    2. While having all the fonts still selected in "Windows 8 Theme Files\Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Windows 8 Fonts\Segoe UI" and copy/paste them into "C:\Windows\Fonts", right click one and click "Install".

    3. Log off or reboot your computer.

    1. Launch "Windows 7 User Picture Frame Changer.exe
    2. Navigate to the Start Menu User Picture Frame folder in the Windows 8 Theme Files folder
    "Windows 8 Theme Files\Windows 8~8.1 Extras\Start Menu User Picture Frame"

    3. Choose the preferred start menu user picture frame.
