EA Sports announced today that the popular Ultimate Team game mode will allow players to transfer their data back and forth from either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 to their respective next generation counterpart. What this means is that players will be able to access their entire Ultimate Team roster, in-game items and in-game currency as well as be able to maintain their current division in Seasons mode on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Players will also have a one-time option to transfer their FIFA points to the new generation of hardware and both sets of systems will have a shared auction market, so players can have a larger pool of people they can trade Ultimate Team cards with.

This move makes an incredible amount of sense, as it gives players an incentive to buy both versions of the game as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be launching in September, at least a month or so before the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions come out.
With the ability to transfer game data to the new systems, players can get a head start on building their teams before leaping up to the new game without having to start from scratch, effectively selling two copies of the game to every one that wants to play the game on new hardware but who also do not want to wait until November to play FIFA 14.
