Help! My xbox is kinda old and now it is saying that all my games are unreadable even though they are barely scrathed, or have no scratches at all! My black ops 2 stopped working about 3 weeks ago or so, and it does't have many scratches. And today my battlefield 3 stopped working saying that the disc was unreadable. I've been thinking about getting them resurfaced, but don't want to do so if it is the disc drive or the xbox all in all. NOTE: I was playing black ops 2 two days ago, I had my xbox opened and my disc drive open. I was disconnected from live and not signed into any account and was able too play about 4 missions on the campaign without any problems. I switched over to zombies, signed in and I instantly got the error. Could it be that I'm banned maybe? (I highly doubt this.) But I really am getting sick and tired of this error so if anyone can help, thanks! Bump!
Can't remember how to do this but if you get the dummy key off your current drive you could buy a new drive and just flash it to emulate the drive your using now. I had to do the same thing, but I also replaced the PCB so I could play my backups.
sounds like a bad lens or something there's some laser calibration video tut on youtube... you may wanna give it a try
Take the drive out and find someone on here who can pull the key from it and put it on a new drive and have it flashed at the same time. Get a new drive as it sounds like the laser mate. Wouldn't cost to much really or if your not bothered and its a old Xbox you can get a good quality Xbox360 flashed from splats for around £40 or others like ADDZ also two of the best people on here to purchase them from, as they will always try to help you after purchase
Yeah drive needs to be replaced due to it being a lens problem. Either buy a new drive and get someone to flash it for you for backups if you want to go that way or just get someone to pull the key and flash it with stock FW and away you g. Hope this helps
thats to damn much work to fix it.... buy a replacement laser off ebay for your drive and replace the one thats in there... only 1 ribon cable needs to be removed
Is your disk facing the right way? lol sounds like a problem i had recently i replaced the eye and wollah works perfect
new laser £ 6. 50 ebay delivered bargain remember to remove the anti static solder point. new drive ??? some people . aswell as the four tiny screws / anti static solder point / rails / white bracket on the laser itself ..
okay... maybe a little more work than just 1 ribbon cable. but yes, in order to get the laser out and a new one put in more work has to be done... all drives have different methods of removing the laser. the easiest being HITACHI drives.
If your xbox has ever fell over the inside may be pushed together and not making work... or maybe it's old... and you need a new
Bump! I need help guys! Can I just buy a new disc drive from someone, or do I need to have key pulled, etc?
no need to bump as your questions have been answred if you can be bothered to read through the posts !!! just put in a new laser 2 minute job and 5x cheaper than having a new drive .
Yes, But How do I change the lasers? I just did it a little bit ago and Im not sure if I did it right. I took the screws out, the white plastic thing out, and switched it over. The disc wouldn't load, but I think it's because either A. The laser was too tight. or B. Does the laser have to be from the same kind of disc drive as the one you already have? Cause mine is a Lite-On and I tried replacing with BenQ and didn't work?
benq and liteon lasers are all the same so no problems there was the benq laser new ??? . if so the anti static solder point will have to be removed .
No it wasn't new. I took it off an RROD Xbox 360, so I don't think it had that. Is it because the laser is old? Also, I don't think it worked because it was really tight. The laser was almost rubbing against the motherboard in the disc drive and while it was trying to read a disc, is sounded like it was struggling. I shoved a little kinex piece in between the drive and the laser so it wouldn't be right on the laser. Any ideas? Thanks, your the only one helping me. ; )
if your financially able get a replacement disk and take the key off if the motherboard has ribbon here"s a youtube link to what im talking about
when you put in a replacement laser they are close to the pcb anyhow but it should not rub the pcb . on the white clip did you use the original screw for it because sometimes they round off from inside the fitting and wont screw in fully ive had this a few times and ive had to use a slightly bigger screw to ensure it sits tight and wont come lose when reading but dont screw it too tight just enough to hold it in place ..
