The recently announced Battlefield 3 has been described as “a next-gen game for current-gen systems.” DICE executive producer, Patrick Bach, explained to Game Informer magazine how the studio had to rewrite their Frostbite engine from scratch, adding elements such as real-time lighting and large-scale destruction. “You shouldn’t have to wait for the Xbox 720 or PlayStation 4. We have to deliver this to you now, and we wanted to do it on all the platforms.” EA have described Frostbite 2 as “incredible technology that takes animation, destruction, lighting, scale and audio to new heights”. It has also been confirmed that battles will rage in Paris, Tehran and New York. It should be an absolute corker.
