From their early and little-known games from the 16-Bit era (Rings of Power, anyone?) right through to the development of an icon in Crash Bandicoot, the evolution of Naughty Dog over the years has been extremely impressive, the three-decade strong team always showing a level of promise that few others could compete with. As gaming moved past the 128-Bit era and into the previous generation of consoles, the team emerged as one of the foremost developers of brilliant games that could almost transcend the medium, delivering amazing experiences, combining engaging story lines with spectacular set pieces with the likes of the Uncharted series. However many would argue that the best title to come from the developer is the last they released. 2013’s The Last of Us caused an enormous stir when it was first unleashed on the gaming public, with a deep storyline that examined every aspect of human morality through the quality set-pieces gamers had come to expect and love from the team. It was a statement of intent from Naughty Dog about where they intended to take game development when the next generation arrived, and is almost universally revered as one of the best games ever made. As anybody who has played the title knows, The Last of Us delivers moment after memorable moment of gaming excellence – full to the brim with potential contenders, but only one can reign supreme.
