i dont know but many people get this problem and its so easy to fix if you know it.
rename the $systemupdate folder to $$ystemupdate.
how is the update folder named you put on the usb?
reboot the console or try that what XPGtrainee said- start a game from the dashboard. i have rebooted my corona and the update message popped up
no i have not started any game i only rebooted my console and then there was the update message
