"DNS Modding" Can Result In Console Ban

Ehm... I've had that happen to me before. No, just the console is banned. However, if you are conducting mischievous acts that are against the TOS, and are severe enough, then yes a console ban as well as a profile ban/suspension may be put in place. But more times than not it's just the console that's banned.

 

Who knows. Just depends on how important this DNS scene is to M$ and how much effort they are putting forth into it in order to stop it.

 

So my console will be banned using dns code by not the profile because I use my profile on xbone too and what do you mean TOS

 

Correct. And it's short for Terms of Service. The thing nobody ever reads.

Are you completely sure on this? I haven't actually seen a viable source for this info.

 

I know people who have had profile bans and not console bans... e.g. myself

Considering it's against the TOS and is considered tampering, yes I'm completely sure.

Sorry but no where does it explicitly say that modifying your DNS is considered tampering, and the assumption is not obvious so don't say that. What would the difference be for changing your DNS if you simply wanted to change your NAT type? I talked to an MS employee anyways and the conversations are not totally valid. I gave the same statement there and he went from saying yes I would for sure get a CB to I might get a profile ban but most likely just a ban from R* and that it's not MS business.

 

I see where you are coming from, trust me. But you don't need to change your DNS to fix your NAT type. I could branch off of why DNS modding CAN get you console banned, but the reason of the post was not to say "if you do this you'll for sure be console banned" it was to inform everyone the very possible risk of a console ban. I could also go on about the dictionary definition of tampering but that would get is nowhere. Just everyone be safe and cautious when doing this.

 

It all depends. I've been console banned twice, and both times all the profiles I had on my consoles were banned. But it doesn't always happen.
Usually you just get console'd but some times your profiles do aswell.
