The Forest has been given a two trailers by developer Endnight Games

The video showcases first-person gameplay footage from an alpha version of the upcoming survival horror simulator.

The game contains an open world in which players can chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. In addition, players must search for food to keep their character from starving and plant seeds to grow crops.

It features a day-and-night cycle as well. Players explore and build during the day, and at night they defend their base from a clan of genetic mutant enemies that have beliefs, families and human-like morals.

An alpha build of the game is scheduled to launch this year for both PC and virtual reality head-mounted display Oculus Rift.
