Got a few nice questions about region changing. So, what are the rules on it for LIVE? Say that I have a USA Xbox and profile, would I get banned for changing to the PAL or NTSC-J region if I buy an Xbox from that particular region? I was reading nothing was against it in the Xbox COC/TOS, you just had to wait about 3 months or something for changing profile regions again. Now, if I buy said Xbox from said (PAL) region, I can still play my normal USA region on that Xbox right? Or do I need to change my profile region too? I heard if I change you profile region I would have to re-buy some content that I bought (even though I couldn't give to shizzles). I did hear way back in the day you could get banned for region changing but I never really known anyone who changed regions. Also, if I go for an NTSC-J then couldn't I play any game because the console being region free?
the only time you will get banned from region changing is if you change say from pal to Ntsc-J and use a VPN to download stuff from the Japan marketplace as you are barking the TOS of normal live TOS as i have done this and got a account ban for it but you able to change region to any region you see fit to as thats what it is there for but do not forget the date you changed it to as that date will be the only day 3 months down the line you will be able to change back so say you changed it on the 12/01/2015 you would not be able to change it back till the 12/04/2015 if you miss that day you would have to wait 3 months again
Alright. So if I buy a NTSC-J and I change my region of my profile from the USA region to NTSC-J, I can use the marketplace fine? What are the limitations exactly? I am guessing when I switch my profile region it will switch my marketplace too or is that a console only thing?
you will not be able to use the marketplace for NTSC-J if you are still in the USA as the way it works is it checks your isp/ips to see what region its from the only way you would be able to use the NTSC-J marketplace when still in the USA is to use a VPN to connect to xbox live on that's from the NTSC-J region but there is a big chance of a ban as Microsoft have stepped up there game on cross region marketplace buyers people buying games/getting free games from the other regions marketplace's it holds a permanent account ban and if the console has bean flagged before for the same thing it will get a console ban as a repeat offend of the and in order to change the market place you would just need to change the region on your console from USA to a NTSC-J region with a account that's for that region and it will just load the regions market place when you log in to the account If you change the region on your account and are on the NTSC-J regions marketplace if you try to download games/dlc and so on it will tell you that the console is not for the right region and if you have a console that's for that region it will tell you that you are in the wrong region (AKA) meaning you would over need to use a VPN for the right region or move to that region
you can change your region anytime AFTER 3 months so you can change it on 13/04/2015 19/04/2015 etc whenever you want.
