I have a white xbox. It did a clamp fix watching a youtube video. But after two months it broke again. So i just over heat it and it works fine for a few days. However recently after a year of doing what i mentioned above my xbox gets rrod. However it doesn't heat up at all :[ Its cold. Left it on for an hour and nothing. All i get is the 3 rings and the green light in the middle to show its on. Anyone know whats up?
E13 (No Audio/Video) / 0031 1) Reflow the RAM and Southbridge 2) Loosen your heatsink screws and make sure the heatsink isnt shorting out a capacitor... 3) Replace the faulty RAM brick 4) X-Clamp replacement 5) Replace dvd power cord. Short in the dvd drive cord or the cord is in backwards. 6) un-bridged U6T1 or U6T2 (point that protect cpu-fuse)
omg half way there now! :] Loosed the sinks and it turned on! But the middle button keep flashing now. I try to open/close the tray and nothing happens :/ edit: its no longer red ringed its in the dash
Thinking about it, the drive normal does something when it loads up.... Its doing nothing now... However tried to mess with the wires and the xbox went to 3 red rings and the fans stopped. Then shock it up abit and it worked again. However back to the flashing greenlight : / Is it a lost cause?
Not at all, that fast flashing green light is just the DVD Drive not plugged in properly, pull the wire out and have a look at it, same with the SATA too from the DVD Drive.
argh, nothing seems to be happening still. Which on is the power cable. I'm thinking the leads might be broken :/ Hoping its the leads and not the actual soldered bits. I already own a rgh I bought. But this is my only online console. Also I have alot of license transfer content i cant replace on it like dlc which can only be used online and acrade games which use multiplayer online. Want to avoid paying money for something i hardly use. But its nice to play online every so often too :[
I think the red ring error has something to do with the dvd drive : / The console turns on proper, but if i shake the drive about it cuts and goes straight to the 3 rings and the fans turn off. Anyone how an idea on what the problem might be?
do you have any more cables to try in the drive ?? or is there any bent pins on the motherboard cable connection or snapped pins .
I don't. Do you know where i can buy cables cheap? I had a look at the pins on the connectors and it all looks ok. Hopefully if i can replace the power and sata cables it'll work again.: /
Disconnect the drive completely and boot the console, if it RRoD's then it's not related to the drive at all. And if anybody tries to say that will flag your console, slap them. I used to play arcade games on a console with no drive for months until a update came out and I couldn't update without a drive. Plus I've compared every part of the nand and there is no differences. All the times you overheated it could have screwed up alot more than you've fixed. Maybe a proper reflow could fix it for *good*
Oddly enough, is it the proper drive? If you take it out and it boots fine, the light will stay flashing since there is no drive connected, but it only RRoD's when the drive is plugged in? If I remember correctly I fixed a console that had a similar issue to this, by any chance is your motherboard a Falcon or Zephyr? I believe I reflowed the console and it worked again. Like I said before, you could have done more harm than good by overheating it, and now that your screws are loose, it'll cause the chips to get even hotter. You may have a cold solder joint or something, somewhere.
Its the proper drive. All the original parts. When its plugged in it works fine too ,just the flashing green light and the drive does nothing. If i shake the drive about it goes rrod. I think its a connection somewhere. How do I know what type of motherboard i have? I tighted the sinks again as i know it wasn't the problem. Defo something connected to the drive.
make it rrod again and get the error code, every time it rrods pull the error code. Xboxs can have more than one problem:s
