Okay so I'm going to solder my RF Module so my lights are red instead of green. The question here is what's the worst that can happen if somehow catastrophic failure happens to occur?

Luckily RF Modules aren't paired with the motherboard so you can replace them with another from any 360. So if you destroy yours you can buy one from ebay and it's all good. lol

    Let the soldering begin.

It's a good answer from him.

I think the worst can happen is to 'destroy it', then it would need to be replaced.
Just take care with static energy.

Obs.:Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

Not much can happen,, I have actually run them with all the led's removed entirely ,,as long as you don't short the hot and ground together you shouldn't have a prob,,if you damage it too bad you can still use it until you get a new one it just won't be pretty

Here's a pic of a mock up I did to test brightness of different led's putting the ROL led's inside the box (one in each corner) , in which time I ran an assortment of different led's and even without all or various ones removed at times
    [IMG]

even a dead short wont cause any perm damage to the rest of the box,,it will even boot shorted ,, but when I did the one time I lost controller sync ability.

I'm sorry I must have misunderstood the question.

I thought you wanted to know "What's the worst that can happen"

Now if you wanted to know if it will short back to the mobo, it won't. The worst that will happen is the RF unit won't work anymore and you'll need to replace it.

If that's still not any help then I'm sorry I can't help you.

If it breaks for $2-4 you can buy another incase you break it.

I haven't had one break on me.

But I do solder pretty well.
